Bet on the French Cup: Paris-Saint-Germain vs Olympique Lyonnais
The French Cup finale is very particular this year…Whoever the winner, he will win his second trophy this year.
On the one hand, the Paris-Saint-Germain (PSG) have avoided the relegation on the last match after their worst year ever. But Paris are paradoxical: they have already won the other Cup which is played in France every year, “la Coupe de la Ligue” and could thus win two titles this year though they finished 16th out of 20 in the championship. Moreover despite the difficulties these last 10 years in the Ligue 1, Paris is the most succesfull club in both cups over the past 10 years.
On the other hand, the Olympique Lyonnais (OL) is currently the best French team. Having won for the 7th time in a row the Ligue 1, Lyon seem unstoppable and their president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that winning the French Cup is the priority of the club (they haven’t won this trophy for 35 years). Led by Juninho Pernambucano and Karim Benzema, the “Gones” – nickname of Lyon’s players, are the favourites.
But as said previously, this match won’t be a common one. First, it is a finale and is therefore unforeseeable. Second, Paris’ players will play without pressure for the first time of these last months. Third, Paris’ goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo has always brought luck to its team during the Cups. And last but not least, it will be the last game of the beloved striker Pedro Miguel Pauleta and his last opportunity to star for the PSG. Therefore it worth it making a risky bet on the half-time correct score: 2-0 for Paris. The odds are of 19/1.
