Bet on Brazilian Football: Brasileiro 2008

Brazilian football, Brasileiro, Sao Paulo

This week-end two matches are particularly interesting in order to have fun and win money:

The first one is the derby Santos-Sao Paulo, the former team of Pele, Diego and Robinho against the champions of last year. The Tricolor -nickname of Sao Paulo, haven’t won a match yet and have had a difficult month last month: they are seven behind the leader Cruzeiro and they have been eliminated of the Copa Libertadores. As for Santos it is not much better : they lost their last two games… The odds of this game are rather high because of the uncertainty.

Betting on a victory of Sao Paulo (odds of 19/10) could be the best choice as it seems likely that they will do everything to prove that they are running for a third title of champion consecutively. Muricy Ramalho, their coach will probably have an aggressive strategy to win the match.

The second one is Vasco de Gama-Gremio. The team of Antonio Lopes, coach of Vasco, is given favorite by the bookmakers but the former team of Ronaldinho Gaucho will go to Rio de Janeiro to win the match. And as they are doing well at the moment, betting on them can be lucrative: the odds are of 5/2.

BET ON COPA DO BRASIL

Batata and Fabio Augusto are fighting for the ball during the game Corinthians-Botafogo

The second-leg of Copa do Brasil’s semi-final are going to be fascinating…

The first match opposes Corinthians and Botafogo, two of the most popular teams in Brazil. The victory of Botafogo at Rio de Janeiro 2-1 has been difficult and the match of tonight at the stadium of Pacaembu will probably be very intense. The “Timao” - nickname of Corinthians meaning the Big Team, will be all the more motivated than they want to prove that they are still a mythic team which wins title. Despite their apocalyptic season of last year which ended with their relegation, they started very well this year and will certainly come back to the first division next year. As for Botafogo, all the fans are secretly dreaming of a final against their rivals and neighbors Vasco de Gama… But the cariocas -player of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Luis and Jorge Henrique have received a yellow card during the first leg and will therefore have to take care not to receive a second one if they want to play the final… Cuca, the coach of the Lone Star - nickname of Botafogo, is likely to have a defensive strategy at Morumbi Stadium as his team have got difficulties away. Therefore betting on a victory of Corinthians seems to be the best deal (the odds are of 9/10).

The second match, Vasco de Gama-Sport Recife is easier to bet on: Sport Recife have won 2-0 at home and are rather bad away. As they have got a consequent advantage they can loose and still go to the final. Therefore, betting on a victory of Vasco de  Gama (odds of 13/20) is all the wiser than Leao, the coach of Vasco, has set up this competition as a priority…

Thrills, spills, kills in Tuscan hills

Valentino Rossi is suddenyl short odds for the MotoGP title. Wins in Shanghai and Le Mans have made him a favourtie before we go to his home circuit at Murgello in Tuscany at the weekend where he has already won six times. It is temopting odds on anyone outside the top four of  Daniel Pedrosa at 3/1, Jorge Lorenzo at 7/2 and Casey Stoner at 9/1. Anyone else starts at an umcompromising 74/1, inlcuding Britain’s James Tosleland who crashed at le Mans.

The original Mugello racetrack was a 66 km road circuit through the Tuscan hills which saw its first meeting in 1914. It was a dusty track from Scarperia uphill to Firenzuola, and then through the Futa Pass downhill San Piero and back to Scarperia which now lends its name to turn 10.

Today’s 5.245 circuit was remodeled by the local Ferrari designers extensively in the 70s and 80s and is one of the most scenic and advanced in thr world, home for Ferrari but also used extensively for bike testing. The GP track record was set in 2004 by Honda at an average speed of 172.35 kph. Valentino Rossi has won here six times on his home circuit and after wins in Shanghai and Le Mans is the hottest of favourites

Bet on GP Monaco 2008

Qualifications of Monaco Grand Prix 2008. A Ferrari car

Betting on the most prestigious Grand Prix is quite tricky… Usually the pole position is a decisive advantage as it is almost impossible to overtake during this race… Nevertheless, the circuit is very demanding and any smallest mistake can lead to a disaster. The favorites are Lewis Hamilton, Kimi Raikkonen and Felipe Massa. But Fernando Alonso, last year winner, is a great champion and will do everything to keep his trophy…

But as the weather forecast is changeable, it could worth it to bet on interesting odds. Indeed, if it rains, a driver like Jenson Button could win and the odds are 99/1!!!

It is time to have a risky strategy to win money…

Bet on Brazilian football

This week-end, two matches will be especially interesting in the “Brasileiro” – the Brazilian Championship: the Rio de Janeiro derby Botafogo-Vasco de Gama, and the game opposing Sport Recife to Fluminense.

The first one because every “classico” has always a particular taste… Even if it has been said that the Lone Star – nickname of Botafogo, will give the priority to the second-leg of Copa do Brasil next Wednesday, their coach Cuca reminded that “winning all the games at home is necessary if Botafogo want to do a good season”. Therefore it is likely that most of the regular team will play like the strikers Jorge Henrique and Wellington Paulista. Vasco de Gama also has a match for the Copa do Brasil next week. After their defeat against Recife, they will want to prepare the second-leg match by scoring at the Engenhao Stadium. As the draw odds are interesting (11/5), betting on this result seems to be the best deal.

The second one because both teams have been really successful this week: by eliminating Sao Paulo, Fluminense is the only Brazilian team to accede to the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores, while Sport Recife has clearly beaten Vasco de Gama (2-0) in the first-leg of the Copa do Brasil. Sport Recife are a really good team when playing at home whereas Fluminense have difficulties away. Therefore betting on the victory of Recife (odds of 21/20) is the most reasonable bet.

Bet on the French Cup: Paris-Saint-Germain vs Olympique Lyonnais

The French Cup finale is very particular this year…Whoever the winner, he will win his second trophy this year.

On the one hand, the Paris-Saint-Germain (PSG) have avoided the relegation on the last match after their worst year ever. But Paris are paradoxical: they have already won the other Cup which is played in France every year, “la Coupe de la Ligue” and could thus win two titles this year though they finished 16th out of 20 in the championship. Moreover despite the difficulties these last 10 years in the Ligue 1, Paris is the most succesfull club in both cups over the past 10 years.

On the other hand, the Olympique Lyonnais (OL) is currently the best French team. Having won for the 7th time in a row the Ligue 1, Lyon seem unstoppable and their president Jean-Michel Aulas has claimed that winning the French Cup is the priority of the club (they haven’t won this trophy for 35 years). Led by Juninho Pernambucano and Karim Benzema, the “Gones” – nickname of Lyon’s players, are the favourites.

But as said previously, this match won’t be a common one. First, it is a finale and is therefore unforeseeable. Second, Paris’ players will play without pressure for the first time of these last months. Third, Paris’ goalkeeper Jerome Alonzo has always brought luck to its team during the Cups. And last but not least, it will be the last game of the beloved striker Pedro Miguel Pauleta and his last opportunity to star for the PSG. Therefore it worth it making a risky bet on the half-time correct score: 2-0 for Paris. The odds are of 19/1.

Bet on Copa Libertadores : Santos-America Mexico

First leg of the quarter of final of the Copa Libertadores between Santos and America MexicoThe last match of the Copa Libertadores’ quarter of final opposes the mythical Brazilian team of Santos with the richest club of the continent, America Mexico. The Mexican club is the favorite to accede to the semi-final as they won 2-0 the first-leg at the Estadio Azteca. Nevertheless the Fish – Nickname of the Brazilian team, is proud and it is unlikely that their coach Emerson Leao has given up the hope to face Fluminense in the semi-final… The former club of the “King Pele”, Robinho and Diego is used to these kind of confrontations and the “Alvinegro” - the colors of the club are white and black, will be supported by thousands of fans – called Santistas, in the Vila Belmiro’s stadium.

Even if the Mexican “Eagles” will probably not feel the pressure, as it has to be kept in mind that they have won 3-0 against Flamengo at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro during the previous round, America Mexico are quite inconstant. They are able of the best as well as of the worst… It makes, it is true, really hard to bet on it but it can also be a good deal to bet on interesting odds. Thus betting on the Half-time/Full-time result can be lucrative: the odds on Santos winning at the end of the 45 first minutes and America Mexico finally beating the Brazilian team are really rewarding (29/1). As a matter of fact if the Mexicans manage to score once, the Brazilian team will have to score four goals…and therefore the Eagles would be able to make the most of the opportunities of counter they will have.

BET ON COPA LIBERTADORES

Copa Libertadores Sao Paulo Fluminense Adriano DagobertoTonight, at the mythical Maracana Stadium – the biggest one in the world, Fluminense will have to beat Sao Paulo FC –the winner of the 2005 edition, to go to Copa Libertadores’ semi-final. Indeed during the first leg at Morumbi Stadium in Sao Paulo, Adriano had saved the “Tricolor” – Sao Paulo’s three colours are white, red and black, by scoring the only goal.

The famous striker has been loaned by Inter Milan and is strongly motivated to come back in the stadium of its beginning where he has scored so many goals for Flamengo. Despite their difficulties in the first two games of the Brazilian championship – the “Brasileiro”, Sao Paulo is an experienced team which is used of this kind of events. As the defender Alex Siva has reminded, his team is used playing in huge stadium – Sao Paulo’s stadium is the second largest in the world, and won’t feel the pressure of Fluminense’s noisy supporters in Rio de Janiero. A defeat seems therefore unlikely.

Moreover, as Sao Paulo won 1-0 at home, Fluminense is under pressure and will have to score during the second leg of this choc of the quarter of final. It seems thus reasonable to think that Sao Paulo will win: if Adriano or Dagoberto manages to score, Fluminense will have to score three times, which will let spaces for these gifted strikers… That is why betting on a victory of Sao Paulo 2-1 seems a very good deal: the odds are 9/1.

BET ON COPA DO BRASIL

copa do brasil, Sport Recife, Vasco de Gama, Botafogo, Corinthians, Romario, EdmundoAfter yesterday’s victory of Botafogo –a team of Rio de Janeiro, over Corinthians –the most popular team of Sao Paulo with nearly 25 millions of fans, Sport Recife receives tonight Vasco de Gama for the first leg of the second semi-final of the Brazilian Cup - Copa do Brasil.

Sport Recife has eliminated more impressive club than Botafogo – such as Internacional and Palmeiras, and could seem unstoppable, driven by these awesome successes. But both teams are currently not doing really well in the Brasileiro – the Brazilian championship. Indeed Sport Recife hasn’t scored a goal yet and the club “carioca” –carioca means from Rio de Janeiro, has lost against the Internacional Porto Alegre and won 3-1 against the weak team of Portuguesa.

Nevertheless the recent games are in favour of Vasco de Gama. As a matter of fact losing 1-0 at Porto Alegre against the Internacional – winner in 2006 of the Copa Libertadores, is not a disgraceful result. Moreover, the ironic comments of Romario on its former team – the 42-years-old legendary Brazilian strikers who was still playing last year in Vasco, will probably boost the “carioca” striker Edmundo.

Therefore betting on Vasco de Gama (interesting odds of 11/5) can be the best alternative.
